In Finland, even the extroverts are introverts, or so claim the Finns. They have a saying, “An introverted Finn looks at his shoes when talking to you; an extroverted Finn looks at your shoes.”
About half of my genetic makeup is Finnish. I find it interesting how much I match these stereotypes despite not knowing much of anything of Finnish culture. Maybe there is something biological that gives Finnish people this particular set of quirks, or maybe I’m just looking for an external excuse for my own weirdness.
