Biden Triumphs in Super Twosday

Bernie Sanders probably needed to win big in tonight’s prize state of Michigan in order to recover from last week’s Biden domination, but it didn’t pan out. Even now, it’s not theoretically impossible for Bernie to take the lead, but the pattern is pretty clear that in the end Joe Biden is going to win the nomination with a healthy lead over Bernie. I can’t imagine the upset it would take for Bernie to actually pull this off at this point. Trump digs up actual evidence of Hunter Biden hi-jinx in Ukraine? Joe makes a gaff to end all gaffs in the next debate? Bernie rolls out to stage at a rally on a skateboard and lands a sick kickflip?

These past two weeks have made it clear that the youth vote will likely never be a reliable pool, no matter how bad the circumstances (Trump) or how good the incentives (free college/student loan forgiveness, marijuana legalization, healthcare as a right, saving the planet, etc.). I can only hope that in another decade, when there are less Boomers and more Millennials and Zoomers beyond their 20s, that they will be wiser politically and understand the potential impact of their vote. Maybe by then, AOC will have proven to be Bernie 2.0 and be ready for her own Presidential run…

I’m still voting for Bernie in my upcoming state primary, fruitless as it seems it will be. Biden will have my vote in the general, but he won’t have my enthusiasm. This is Hillary 2016 all over again.
